  3. No opinion on Belushi. But, I'd like to say he at least achieved actor status. His first few films, he was a caricature, like many SNL roles. Blues Bros. was his first starring role. Then he was in another comedy as the "straight man" in Neighbors with Akroyd as the antagonist. Finally, his last role was a romantic comedy where he didn't overact or play a caricature. So, within 7 movies or so, John Belushi was able to go from comedic side character to semi-serious starring role. That is still an achievement for his short career and life. What I know about comedians, somewhat being one myself...they are very deep and full of every emotion. And have such a longing to be loved.
