I guarantee there is an aloof, unlikable even alien part of them and yourself. Pretty sure you marry your best friend and live with them. 50% divorce rate.

Friendship Loss Equation: 1 Initial Excitement, Bonded on some joint activity, humour, personality, etc. 2 Friend becomes less enjoyable, differences arise. 3 One friend becomes less available. 4 Other friend becomes resentful. 5 Snarky words are uttered. Some neediness, criticism. 6 Grey Zone. Not quite friends like we were, but intermittent...I mean intermittent friendship. 7 Deposed friend lashes out after a last straw moment, which is the final straw the no longer interested friend was waiting for. 8 Friendship over. 9 Potential enemy status in future.
