  2.  @dice138  No they didn't. This is comprehensively covered in the EU's anti-subsidy probe last year -- see EU Implementing Regulation 2024/1866, which lists gov't benefits/subsidies BYD received. Tesla received far less, which was why Tesla's CVD is far lower than that of BYD's.

  4.  @goblinterminator  According to CSIS's (under)estimate, the Chinese gov't spent over $230+B in EV subsidies between 2009-2023. Tesla came after 2017 and the subsidies really amount to about 50 basis points below the market lending rate in China (see Tesla's 10K) + purchase/sales subsidies.
