You mean like China's friend neighbors such as Vietnam, the Phillippines, India, Australia, etc?

Not every country hands out "export subsidies" to undercut foreign competitors in markets abroad.

@jptrainor Canada doesn't have any subsidies that "conditioned on" export subsidies. Not all subsidies are same, you just gotta understand what is prohibited under the WTO's SCM (subsidies and countervailing measures) agreement; see Annex 1 ILLUSTRATIVE LIST OF EXPORT SUBSIDIES: a. The provision by governments of direct subsidies to a firm or an industry contingent upon export performance. c. Internal transport and freight charges on export shipments, provided or mandated by governments, on terms more favourable than for domestic shipments. etc. etc,

@jptrainor If there is no condition, there is no incentive for them to export. No gov't hands out blank checks without strings.

@jptrainor correction: "The United States is Canada's top export destination for motor vehicles for transporting goods, accounting for 99% of exports in 2023." This is covered under USMCA.

@jptrainor There is no export subsidy issue between the US, Canada, (and Mexico) because they are effectively in the same trade zone.

@jptrainor didn't we just agree that (1) 78% of vehicles manuf'ed in Canada are exported and (2) 99% of it to the US? There is no export subsidy issue because of the free trade agreement between US-M-CA. You are still trying to argue based on your uninformed and expansive definition of "subsidies" that all subsidies are fungible and therefore there is no difference between export / local subsidies, in spite of the specific examples I provided above.

@jptrainor Do you agree that Canada's auto exports are almost all to the US?
1
@jptrainor or do you understand that US-CANADA trade are all covered under USMCA?
