@beehappy7797 it's mostly big batteries on wheel.. not every EV needs to be FSD.

China is 30% of the global auto market.

LFP is essentially patent-free.. LFP is combustible.

@markplott4820 sorry, all 4680s are NCM. the whole idea behind 4680 is to lower production cost and increase density. LFP would accomplish neither.

@markplott4820 low-end/low-performing batteries tend to last longer and more stable than high-end/performiing batteries.

@markplott4820 LFP is less combustible in ESS; in EVs? not so much, which is why they are deployed almost exclusively in entry-level, low-range EVs.

@psdaengr911 4680 is a package format; There is no LFP/NCA 4680, though Samsung announced they finished developing 46XX (NCA) for BMW (and Rivian - 4695).

@markplott4820 >> TESLA in TX is Developing 4680 LFP Cathodes , as well as NCA/NCM << developing high-nickel batteries are actually pretty hard; scaling up and mass-producing them even harder. Remeber Panasonic burned through close to $1B and spent over 2 years to reach 80% yield when they switched over to 2180 back in 2019.
