@newchannel1220 : duh, Hyundai started delivering them in late July, so why not just cite the August sale? You probably already know this, but the company sold 1,252 in Aug and 1,660 in September. try harder, troll.

@sunshinelolipops1 : a lot of boomers from the 90's here.

@JustMe99999 >> It will be interesting to see if they can keep the cost down while manufacturing them in Europe. << It's all based on Chinese engineering and design. It's just a re-badged Geely with most parts and batteries from China.
3
@trstnhn Absolutely. Doug has been saying for the turn camera for years now, but not too many takers.
2
@pissoff234 haha. Your name handle
2
@Oneness100 : there is no GV90. must have been dreaming.
2
@dfsdh432v9 : Chinese wumaos are out in full force.
2
@TimTheMusicMan : No, there isn't. The GV70 was just released in the US -- there are fewer than 3,000 GV70's on the road. Now, I couldn't help noticing that most negative comments are coming from China's $0.50 army casting asperasion on the Genesis brand, is this part of Xi Jinping's let's-pretend-Chinese-make-better-cars-than-Korean campaign?
2
@MaximilianvonPinneberg : >> I think they’ve sold a total of 200 cars in UK Genesis is doing much better in the US -- they sold ~5K/month vehicles in July and August this year. That's about 250% increase in sales over 2019, or 350% over 2020. As Doug points out, the GV70's was unceremoniously released a couple of months ago in the US, apparently without fanfare, and we received only ~1.5K/month in June and July. Genesis is definitely maxing out their ~60K yearly global production capacity for GV70. In South Korea, they've already delivered over 30K -- or ~5K GV70's/month -- this year.
2
@MaximilianvonPinneberg : >> These cars are extremely America-centric. Not sure if that's entirely true. Genesis US sales wasn't all that great either until their first SUV came out very late last year -- and that's the point I was making with 200/300+% sales jump in the US (over 2020 and 2019). Even in Canada, the company reported 400+% jump in monthly sales there (or about ~450 vehicles for August). I suspect that we are going to see some significant sales in the UK as well. The company just reveleaed pricing for G70/GV70 last month for the UK market, so let's wait and see. >> Last year at one point, Tesla was the best selling car in the UK. Sure, that's why I specifically compared the 2019/2020 sales figure vs 2021 sales.

Not sure Genesis, but Hyunda is working on one, RM20e: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CUb6ESDEDU
2
IIHS disagrees with you.
2
@kuyre2239 that's in CAD.. MOst EV batteries replacement still costs $20+K + labor.
2
I get that Doug's scoring system is highly subjective, but why is I5's "Daily Value" score lower than say that of Tesla M3's 2 or MY's 1?
2
Volvo routinely ranks in the bottom in reliability. Genesis is reliable and safe.
2
the GV70 is actually quite head turning.. should be given 6 or 7, not 4.
1
@kuyre2239 SK makes batteries for Hyundai/Kia. On average most modern EV batteries lose 10% after 100K miles.
1
@kuyre2239 It's actually NCM9 by SK On, by far the most advanced NCM batteries out there. Hyundai tested the N at Nurburgring and there was 0% battery degradation after 6 months.
1
@kuyre2239 SK On makes NCM8/9 batteries for Hyundai/Kia. >> lose 65% of capacity within 7 years. << Are you Chinese?
1
It's Geely.
1
GMC Hummer EV: 2,929 sold in 2Q 2024.
1
Hyundai is already working with Rimacs to develop a performance car. It will be based on either EV or FC.
1
It's much bigger and can sit 7 people. Oh and a lot fewer defects than any Tesla EVs.
1
@zytuben : LOL Tesla ranked dead last in TUV Quality Inspection 2024, defending its title from 2022 -- only budget Romanian auto maker Dacia competes with Tesla in # of defects department.
1
@zytuben : the TUV report is based on 221 vehicle models inspected from July 2022 to June 2023.
1
but the point of the BSC is to help keep your eyes on the road. Tesla's implementation on the other hand....
1
@tocreatee5736 : oh god.. another wumao. Xi Jinping can't stand Korean cars. LOL!
1
@SuperGholamreza : which must have been why Hyundai had no press GV70 car for reviewers. /s
1
@갓생호소인-x9u : time for medication.
1
@drunkenhobo8020 The N comes with SK's most cutting edge NCM9 batteries, which is now slowly trickling down to other Hyundai/Kia EV models -- the EV9 already has the same NCM9 (but tuned differently for durability) The rumor has it that Hyundai tested the N at Nurburgring with 0% battery degradation after first 6 month.
1
@downsouth420 : Honda discontinued the blind side cam to save money back in 2019 . Hyundai/Genesis/Kia are the only company offering it.
1
@dfsdh432v9 Most batteries in the Western world come from either LG or SK -- they are priced similiarly per KWh (meaning depending on battery pack size).
1
@dfsdh432v9 Unless of course, it's Tesla whose batteries come from Panasonic (US) or CATL (China).
1
@dfsdh432v9 : repost: the Ford F-150 also costs upward of $30K -- it's slightly higher because of the bigger battery pack size, but per KWh they are price simliarily.
1
@dragospahontu : yes, it appears a lot of BMW engineers eagerly left the company b/c of the new CEO. These days, Hyundai's top R&D and engeiners are from Germany; designers from Belgium and France.

ugh.. piano black.
