This meant in theory they could carry 17,600lb of bombs, 8,000lb of which were carried external. Range or altitude had to be sacrificed to carry this load. Either an operational range of 790 miles at 25,000ft or 1,170 miles at 6,000ft.

In 1918, the British Generals decided that the tank could be disposed of as I was designed to break the deadlock caused by trench warfare. They failed to see that the cavalry was the obsolete weapon system.

  20. Wasn't the UAPTF's predecessor, the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program disbanded? Funny that as soon as they disband one body thet have to form a new one. I wouldn't put too much on the reports coming out of the same government body who thought the Soviets had more bombers and then more missiles than they did or from a country that dragged the world into another war over non-existent WMDs in Iraq.

  21.  @AudieHolland  everything I've read states that Winkelman was initially prepared to fight on after the loss of Rotterdam. Yes, there usually is a cease fire of a limited period but not always such as at the end of WW1. And everything I've read suggests that Kesselring was ignoring what the ground commander were telling him on 14/5/1940. And guess what. You're wrong about there being a breach of the rules of war. The city was defended and the commander of the attacking force gave warning.

Whilst many early aircraft were indeed pushers, this does not make any difference to my initial musings. The Sopwith Triplane influenced Anthony Fokker to design his Dr.1 triplane. PLEASE NOTE I SAY INFLUENCED. The SAAB 21 has a passing similarity to this Italian design. There were several other designs that followed roughly the same design layouts, some like the SAAB 21 with a conventional tailplane and others like the Curtiss-Wright XP-55 with a canard configuration (and built to meet the needs of the USAAC's specification R-40C of November 1939). Really if you can't ubderstand that earlier designs influence later ones, you shouldn't ne allowed on YT without an adult to supervise you.

These would be the Beaufighters and Mosquitos, but they would have to spot the Me-264s visually. The Germans would have had to take Iceland off the Americans first to land there.

Unless they had used weapons of mass destruction like one of the early nerve agents they had developed (they had created Sarin in 1938 and had tested it as a weapon in 1939, by the end of WW2 they had between 500kg and 10,000kg of the stuff, they also ended the war with 12,000 tonnes of tabun plus some soman) or a radiological bomb (a bomb that used conventional explosives to spread a radioactive material and not one like used on Hiroshima or Nagasaki).

Both the Iraqis and the Iranians had WMDs and used them on each other during their war at the height of the Cold War. The Americans stockpiling gas in North Africa in WW2 brought stocks of German poison gas to Italy until someone realised the Americans were stockpiling gasoline. It's that easy to escalate an issues until someone make a mistake, such as portrayed in the film The Bedford Incident.

On 16/2/1916 his temporary HA was shelled whilst he was eating breakfast as recorded in a letter to his wife.   43. Mostly it was to honour the country that delivered them to use. The FAA tended to use bird names for their fighters, hence Martlet which is an archaic name for the House Martin.

  50.  @dallesamllhals9161  so you don't understand the difference between allies and co-belligerents. After the Italian surrender the portion under British/American occupation turned its weapons on the Germans. These Italians were co-belligerents and not allies.
