  2.  @Bad_Drivers_Caught_On_Dashcam  you clearly don't understand the adage. The adage puts the onus on you to maintain safe gaps where the onus is on you to keep them, ie when behind simone, and to be aware of your position on the road and what is going on all around you, so that you can take action to prevent becoming involved in an accident. You certainly do not have to entitlement to any part of the road as the law also requires you to maintain a safe gap from other road users. Priority is not taken but given.
