@Nathan Mcilveen ETIAS includes some scutiny, like ESTA. for those not eligible for ETIAS it means they are stuck on the big island. and you need a passport now to leave UK.

@Nathan Mcilveen ok, id card issue is UK's fault. if you would have issued id just for travel abroad it would have been sufficent. no need to carry your id around 24/7 within your own country; that's internal affair and not EU's concern. but the issue is gone, it is passport or nothing by now.
