why not ? it only became silly when the line of french kings was broken and the claim is now with french presidents instead of the remaining french bourbons.

@niapor they could choose any male catholic and the cardinal dean (always the cardinal bishop of Ostia) would ordain him bishop ASAP

@TheOwenMajor current line of succession is clear, but the medieval line of kings of england is disputable and the Act of Succession to install the hanovers broke the claim of otherwise eligible catholic claimants. there is a chart of the otherwsie jacobite kings of england here on the channel.
