  1. to be honest: in the written and original trilogy Arwen IS very passive; it was Glorfindel who came to the rescue of Frodo and splashed the Nazgul with water horses. she was more of "me is daughter of Elrond" profession, just being pretty and sheltered and adored. because her mother Celebrian was ambushed and had to leave to the West do not succumb to her wounds it was plausible she was not allowed to roam the lands. btw: Galadriel is Elrond's MIL while his actor Hugo Weaving is elder than her actress Cate Blanchett :D
