  1. well, it sucks to be english then. :) in germany all titles (after germany became republic in 1918) became part of the name AND every descendant is entitled to the style of their respective anchestor unless (in case of the females upon marriage) their name changed. lot of princes and princesses and counts and barons and whatnot around nowadays the princesses and countesses etc. may refuse to take on the name of their husband, unless those lads are noble too. it allows them to confer their "long name" upon their children.
