  7. for some additions: germans are also welcome to settle in switzerland. :D unfortunately the dual citizenship with USA would mean you are somewhat stranded: swiss banks outright deny you an account, because they dont want to file anything related to FATCA.

  8. criminal record doesnt entail parking tickets or any such minor fails. most germans themselves would be ineligible for anything otherwise ;) for the voting part: unlike USA where you have to be born citizen to become president a german citizenship achieved by whatever means is sufficient enough to run for any office, even for chancellorship or head of state. you are eligible to be voted on, not just able vote for someone else. :)
