2030s? That is just wishful thinking.

Nk being absorbed into china seems more realistic and practical at this point.

@Dave102693 would probably be a lot better for north koreans compared what they have now.

If nk develops independently reunification only becomes less likely

Nk being absorbed into china seems more likely and more practical honestly.

East Germany also had a very highly educated population and a solid industrial base. Unification basicly made germany the power it is today as it got a big educated low cost workforce which made it highly competitive industrially among it's european peers.

It will never happen. Absorption into sk as is would be a desaster economicaly. And if nk was to be developed first to soften the blow, chances are minicule nk would develop into a society similar enough to south korea that it would choose unification over independence. It has been to long and differences are to big. It bears little comparison to differences economicly and culturally between east and west germany.

@deepinthewoods8078 the chances that north korea will develop into something similar as south korea are miniscule realisticly. The longer north korea was left to set an independent course for development the less compatibel they will probably become and the less support reunification there will be. Reunification can probably only be done immediatly when it's current regime collapses. East germany also had a highly educated population and a strong industrial base, which made germany the powerhouse it currently is. They bennefited greatly from this large highly educated yet cheap workforce to outcompete it's western peers.
