  1. I guess what we're seeing is the difference between true believers and non-believers. Non-believers think it's a tragedy to be "sheltered" from the world and true believers think it's a tragedy to not be protected from the world. A child raised in a loving, Godly home who never gets born again will see their childhood differently than if they ended up coming to faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 1 John 2:15 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

  2. Alone time with the Lord in prayer is an excellent way to draw close to Him. Stick with the King James Bible and the old (Biblical) hymns and you will find yourself growing spiritually very rapidly. Good Biblical churches are hard to find but as you search you can find Bible believing preaching on YT. James 5:13 - Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
