@jefftucker9225 I think that it's called "paralysis by analysis". Modern people are spending a lot of time thinking and talking about doing things, as opposed to actually taking action and doing them. They procrastinate and do things like play video games instead, which give them a feeling of "achievement", without actually achieving anything. Many people are entirely focused on themselves, they can't really process being married and having children. They haven't yet progressed and grown up yet themselves.

Let me just tell you this... You will never have "enough" money to raise kids. There will never be a "right time" to have children. That's a trap. And so is relying on two incomes... And getting into debt from post-secondary schooling for a career.

When they look at the biggest cost related to having children, they include "childcare" as being one of the top expenses. For some it is the equivalent in cost of another mortgage. Interesting, because that used to just be the mother caring for her own children, "for free". Far too many are stuck in the trap of relying on two incomes today. They would be wise to learn to live with one income and then allow the mother to remain home. The housing market is going to crash. Prices cannot keep going up forever and they won't.

@chrisklugh Neither do I. I'm also married and raising children. It's possible to raise children and for them to have everything that they need today. Usually when people say that it's impossible, they haven't tried.

@chrisklugh Thank you! We just trust God, that is all. He hasn't failed us yet, so may He get all the glory! Even while single, He helped me always keep my bills paid (by keeping me employed). Now, I am very blessed to be able to stay at home and take care of our family and home school our children. I agree that it is a privilege and a blessing and that is why we take it very seriously. If God can do this for us, I know that He can do this for other people. We are just a regular family.

The risks and fears are exaggerated. Most women statistically have healthy pregnancies even as they get older. If God gives you more children He can give you the ability to take care of them also.

A few things that you may want to reconsider.: 1) Being unmarried and even considering having children and buying a home with a "boyfriend". 2) Planning on relying on two incomes. Children are best with their mother at home with them, not in daycare or with babysitters. 3) Considering relying on parents as an adult for things such as money, accommodations or childcare. 4) Not having a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Through a genuine relationship with God, we can gain insight into what His plans are for our lives and we can have wisdom for how to live our lives appropriately. We also end up having eternal life, that goes above and beyond just this life.

They are trying to do that because they know that if people don't have children, there won't be a populace to fund the govt., nor care for the aging population. Families receive tax incentives to have children in "pro-natal" countries such as the USA and Canada. They also welcome immigration.

Thank you for being honest. That is what most people today are actually thinking deep down and they just don't want to admit it. They haven't grown up and they want the toys and fun things that they can buy with money. It's an empty pursuit and you'll see that when you're older it sounds even sillier. Like when an obese person told me that they had to stop their fertility otherwise their family would have "starved".

Overpopulation is certainly a myth. Now several Westernized countries have begun promoting increasing the population because their populations are in decline. To this day people still treat you like you are insane or stupid if you have over 1 - 2 children. Once you have 3 children, prepare to be mocked by the average person. Having 3 + children is going into territory where most fear to tread.

@randomyoutubebrowser5217 Having children isn't "trouble" or a burden to me. It's a big responsibility that many women seem to not be taking seriously, because they so easily outsource it. Having children is a blessing. My career is raising our children and taking care of my husband. There is no more important thing that I could possibly be doing than helping them succeed. There's that hope that you all are talking about. Maybe it comes from wives and mothers and little precious babies.

@shawn576 He ends up wanting to settle down with a lady and just working construction. If that character continued that story line, I imagine that it's very likely that they would end up with children. When people love each other there is some likelihood that they will start making babies. Maybe the world is always going to be a sad, hopeless place but having children is a happy thing. Getting married and having a family is one of life's greatest joys, after that of knowing your Creator. Could it be that so many are so disgruntled and bitter because they have largely stopped pursuing marriage and wanting children?

@ianandersen265 Diaper phobia. That's humorous. I have more than one child that is in diapers and it's really not that bad. It's comes more natural for a woman to handle them, I think. My husband doesn't change them and I don't ask him to.

@Ren-1979 The birth rate is below replacement levels currently and plummeting severely. Overpopulation has always been and will always be a myth. The earth is massive and there is more than enough space and resources for everyone. God created the earth to be lived upon, not just to be an empty place with no inhabitants.

@Josh-vc2ul Single mothers can't do it all alone. They usually have to outsource childcare and they are unable to be both mom and dad. The assumption is that it's almost always better without the father and husband in the picture and that's just not so.

@BackstabberDD You see people being overcrowded in cities and assume that the world is overpopulated, which is not the case whatsoever. Get out to the countryside sometime and get some fresh air. There are miles, upon miles, upon miles, upon miles of empty space where no humans are. Abundant resources too, more than enough for everyone. Scarcity is a myth. Regarding the "whiny, bratty kid", well those are the product of poor parenting... Outsourcing childcare to others, spoiling them, never teaching them self control, not raising them to have good character, etc. What can help with that is a having morals and a sweet wife and mother at home to raise a child. Then it's not just a whiny brat.

@noblemushroom6588 Less people = less people paying taxes, buying goods and services which keeps the economy afloat, less people in the next generation to replace those that are passing. They are already concerned that there won't be enough people to care for the aging population and not enough people are replacing those that are retiring. All the people that aren't having children today aren't understanding that lack or people causes society to die. If people don't have children there won't be another generation.

If you have no children, you have no need for a house. You could live in a van... Even a couple could do so. Why not do that and save for a home?

@ruiqi22 Some single people and couples do it to save money, perhaps for a home. "Van life" has been a trendy thing. Some people enjoy it for travel and adventure. Making children live in a van is very extreme...

@ruiqi22 It's a way to save for a house. Many people complain that they can't buy a house because of the high cost of rent. They are unable to save for one because housing is so expensive. There are people on YouTube literally doing this.

@kaybrown7733 Not so. You see, if people refuse to have children they only subtract themselves down to zero, but if people have children, especially many children, they MULTIPLY. That means MORE people who grow up and end up working, more opportunity to succeed and build skill sets and wealth to help everyone in the immediate and extended family, as well future generations. People focus on the "financial burden", without recognizing that those children grow up into adults that stand on their own two feet.

@kaybrown7733 When I was a teenager I had a job and I was preparing to leave home. I'm not sure the point that you're making. People shouldn't have babies when they are teenagers. They should wait and save up money and get married when they are adults. In the meantime they have been working already for years. For example Amish men usually by the time they are 20 already have a trade and can stand on their own two feet, because they have been working since 9th grade. Apply that kind of work ethic to life and see how poor you aren't. Poverty often comes from laziness and poor life choices. Not following God's ways. Marriage and children are a blessing, not a burden. There's never been a good time in history to have children. Today people just have complete access to medical means to stop their fertility and they are terrified of having children. The hope for the future has always been and will always be the Lord Jesus Christ. God wants believers to have children and for many people to get saved so that everyone can be with Him for eternity. The fears of having children are actually unnecessary for the believer because we get to live forever with our children, either way. Revelation 21:4 KJV - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

@CaedenV The more money and education people have the less children that they have. The more time they can devote to themselves and entertain themselves. But "happiness" doesn't equal a productive life that matters.

@vukkulvar9769 How about not getting into debt in the first place, forgetting the expensive degree and men learning a trade (many trades actually pay well), women staying home and taking care of the children (no need to pay for childcare, costs of woman going to work; clothing, transportation, lunch, etc.) and the family just live modestly... Save up and buy a modest house cash eventually.

@richt.2966 It's best if the wife and mother is home with the children. That's what people are missing. They have gotten trapped into relying on two incomes. I am a stay at home wife and mother and we are an average family. If we can do it, anyone else can (with the Lord's help).

Worldwide we are currently at below replacement levels. Many countries are trying to encourage people to have children because their populations are in decline. The Westernized world has a decidedly anti-family value system. The population is aging and not being replaced. AI and robotics could possibly be a replacement.
