@lopresti4559 I completely understand. Areas like that can have their advantages because they often also have a lower cost of living and lower population density. You could always consider relocating to somewhere with more job opportunities, your spouse learning a new trade, getting a work from home job or trying a longer commute. Look into the "liveable wage" for your area and other areas you are interested in. Some places are drastically cheaper than others. I've also noticed that states that appear to pay more for wages, often just cost more to live there anyways, so it seems to even out. Seems like a rip off. Hang in there and don't give up hope. I'm sorry for your loss. People may tend to look at other places with rose-colored glasses without considering that it's not really easy living anywhere. There will always be some sort of downside that has to be considered.

@outbackigloo6489 That's your opinion and you are free to express it. Many people initially came to the US for religious freedom. The original purpose of the very early US public education system was to teach people to read so that they might have the freedom to read the Bible for themselves. Look into it.

You're talking about the industrial revolution which was long after the first US colonies. They first wanted to learn the Bible, not just get a job.

What most people tend to encounter are professing fake "Christians" or the people in cults. Really poor representatives for Christ. Indeed they don't even know Him or the Bible. That being said, as a Bible believing Christian I would rather live somewhere that people freely can talk about God rather than the spiritually dry areas where it's frowned upon culturally.
