  7. Illogical behaviour. Narcissist arrests are fascinating. The criminal even admitted to the battery of the store owner and oddly questions why she is being arrested by law enforcement. Then proceeds to assault police officers. (Felony x2). Entitled and never faced immediate accountability for poor behaviour. Textbook narcissist collapse. Narcissistic collapse refers to a psychological phenomenon that can occur when a person with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) experiences a severe blow to their ego or self-esteem. This usually happens when their sense of superiority, grandiosity, or self-worth is threatenedโ€”such as by criticism, failure, rejection, humiliation or as in this case arrest with consequences. What Happens During a Narcissistic Collapse? When confronted with a situation that challenges their inflated self-image or exposes their vulnerabilities, a narcissist may: 1. Experience intense emotional distress: They might feel shame, humiliation, worthlessness, or deep insecurity. 2. Show defensive reactions: Their behaviors can range from anger and aggression to withdrawal and avoidance. 3. Devalue others: They may project their feelings onto others, often blaming or insulting the people they perceive as responsible. 4. Withdraw: Some narcissists retreat from interactions altogether to avoid further damage to their fragile self-esteem. 5. Exhibit extreme behaviours (as in this case) This can include explosive rage, screaming, yelling passive-aggressive conduct, or depressive episodes and violence. Common Triggers of Narcissistic Collapse โ€ข Rejection or abandonment โ€ข Public embarrassment or humiliation โ€ข Criticism (perceived or real) โ€ข Loss of power, control, or status โ€ข A failure that undermines their self-image( arrested for a crime) How Long Does It Last? The duration of a narcissistic collapse can vary. For some, it may last minutes to hours; for others, days, weeks, or even longer. Recovery often depends on the personโ€™s coping mechanisms, level of self-awareness, and ability to regain their sense of control or validation. Recommendation- Prison (if violent) along with long term rehabilitation, counselling and medication. The chances of curing the illness is lower if the patient is an adult. (20%).
