The government had no choice but to lock the country down the heath system was too small to cope with covid sweeping through an unvaccinated population. We have less ICU beds per capita than a lot of other countries we would have been swamped their wouldn't have been enough ICU beds or oxygen for people who needed it and doctors and nurses also would have gone down the system would have collapsed and the death toll would have been far higher. National won't do anything when they get into power.
