@lettheflamestakeover1793 well after nearly 5 months they are still standing who would have thought The Russians will capture the Donbas through superiority in artillery and the Ukrainian forces arn't helping their cause by fighting the Russians from trenches allowing the Russians to spot them from the air and pound them with concentrated artillery fire. The question is can the Russians control the Donbas afterwards if the Ukrainian forces start fighting like insurgents hitting and running. If the Ukrainian forces do that it will reduce their casualties and continue to put a daily toll of casualties on the Russians and the war will drag on. How many dead Russians is the Donbas worth to Russia. Once the Russians capture the Donbas they won't be able to leave because the separatist forces are too weak to hold it themselves they will need to keep tens of thousands of soldiers there and set up bases which will be good targets for HIMARS and M270 MLRS and their supply columns will also be vulnerable to ambush.

@Rob-vv5yn you can still send forces in on hit and run raids not massing in front of your enemy

@rdmcabee there are still areas in the Donbas with bushes to hide in it's not all open plane you can see that in the combat footage
