Do some study of Ukraine demographics its scary they're one of the oldest populations in Europe with an average age of 40. They have more than twice the number of men in their 40's than they do in their 20's. Russia has far more men in the 20-40 range to throw into the grinder and if the war continues for years as a conventional conflict no matter how hard the Ukrainian fight they will get worn down the men they do have aged 20-29 who are the future of the country will be bled out. Ukraine will have to change to an insurgency even if it means giving up ground because it will reduce the demands on their manpower they wont have a huge line that they have to try and hold from trenches and that will enable them to rotate units out of battle to give soldiers a rest. It will also reduce casualties because there won't be the static targets for the Russians to hit with artillery fire. It will also be cheaper for Ukraines allies to supply because they wont need so much artillery ammunition.
