The patch ban will do nothing to reduce crime or gang recruitment it's a joke. I'm more concerned with a government that thinks they can ignore the bill of rights when it doesn't suit them
30
They privatised the electricity sector and we got more expensive electricity. They privatised the railways and it got run down to the point of ruin and the government had to buy it back and rebuild it because it was vital infrastructure.
20
@bengutsell grow some balls if you're not gang affiliated and just going about your business the gangs don't care about you
9
They can't there isn't the prison space in New Zealand they would be short by thousands of prison cells.
8
@Punkagonist the raptor squad hasn't got rid of the gangs and crime rates haven't reduced and neither has drug use
6
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 no they haven't I have family in Australia all the gangs are still there they just don't wear patches in public. There is still gang crime and that includes plenty of drugs being sold
4
@Punkagonist no it hasn't the gangs are still recruiting in Australia. As long as you have young people coming from the wrong side of the tracks you will have gang members. Government agencies have already warned the New Zealand government they can't arrest their way out of the gang issue
4
@jasonhockly8655 the price of electricity went up as soon as it was privatised which happened decades ago it has nothing to do with the previous government banning gas exploration. The price of electricity was always going to go up once it was privatised because those companies are in business to make maximum profit for themselves and their shareholders. The railways are vital to an area like wellington if it didn't exist all those people riding the trains each day to and from Wellington would be in cars and the motorways would be gridlocked..
4
@jasonhockly8655 the national party privatised the sector telling everyone they were going to get cheaper electricity and they didn't and were never going to because once you privatise it's all about the shareholders. New Zealand's electricity generation by renewables has gone up to 87 and 88 % for 2022 and 2023 so saying that stopping gas exploration drove up prices is false. It's the private companies responsibility to increase supply if that's what is required but that costs money Privatisation never makes things cheaper. As for the railways if we didn't have rail everything would be on the roads moved by truck which isn't more efficient and does more damage to the roads.
4
@jasonhockly8655 our production of electricity has increased through renewables at the same time as the ban on gas exploration was put in place so it didn't drive up electricity prices. There is no reason that electricity would have been more expensive under government ownership than in private hands it's quite the opposite. The private companies have no incentive to keep prices down they keep supply tight to keep prices up to benefit the company and it's shareholders and that happens no matter what resource you privatise..
4
@MikeJones-m6r the bill of rights is a law that states New Zealanders have the right to freedom of expression, freedom to peaceful assembly and freedom of association all which have been breached with this new law
4
They're not going to stop it looking the other way either.
4
@jerrybow8779 the gangs don't care about the general public's business
3
They will wear them on their faces and their arms and backs tattoos aren't banned
3
@jasonhockly8655 how expensive it is compared to other countries is irrelevant all that matters is the politicians told the public one thing and we got the opposite. Rail is vital in areas like Wellington you are so clueless about the issue I don't know why you bother commenting
3
Sounds like you need a testosterone boost
3
If they want to intimidate you they will do it regardless of gang insignia
3
No they're looking at years.
3
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 No my family isn't talking snack and neither am I the gangs are still in Australia still recruiting and the drugs are still moving. Enjoy your dreamworld
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 i do know about the VLAD act I also know about the RICO act in America and neither of them gave got rid of gangs. We also have a law in New Zealand which has been in force since around 1999 making it a criminal offence to be in a gang and it hasn't done anything
2
@njm361 it's not about being pro gang it's about not living in a dream world about what the laws are going to achieve government agencies have already told the New Zealand government they can't arrest their way out of the problem because it's socio/economic
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 I have family and friends in Australia and it's common knowledge what's gone on in Australia with their organised crime legislation. I guess you're the only person in Australia who knows what's going on😂🤡
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 you need to wake up
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 you need to get out of your dreamworld
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 you need to get out of your dreamworld and educate yourself about the realities of the world you live in.
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 I'm not lost I'm just not kidding myself about the laws governments have passed to try and deal with organised crime and drugs. They've failed everywhere..
2
@Punkagonist they're not going anywhere the root cause of the issue is socio economic and you can't arrest your way out of that.
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 you haven't got a clue you just know what the government tells you on the news the reality is a whole lot different
2
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 read it and weep "Queensland was the first to introduce tough anti bikie laws in 2013 reformed again in 2016. The law society pointed out there was limited data and analysis on western Australia's reforms. However despite 130 cases of recorded charges using the reformed laws ( and an 80% conviction rate) there had been no associated drop in overall crime statistics. The statistics in fact show an increase in crime including for violent and serious offending and drug offences associated with gang activity." Even in Queensland where anti bikie laws have been in place for longer has not reported a decrease in the actual rate of crime..
2
@GrantStaveley I had a fight with a gang member but i don't go around living in fear of them. I've had more fights with people who aren't gang members
2
Look at America with their privatised health care you pay a lot of money for your plan then they deny you coverage. Privitised healthcare is healthcare for profit they don't give a damn about the people. We dont need a healthcare system like america where if you get denied coverage for your illness/injury you end up facing financial ruin
2
@brownpunk1794 The headhunters just lost 15 million worth of property after a 10 year effort from police. The Hells Angels have also had patch members busted.
2
And when National leaves office the gangs will still be there, their numbers won't be reduced and the drug supply will be the same or worse.
1
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 the 1% MC call themselves clubs but everyone knows what they really are. You go sit down chump
1
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 the mongrel mob and black power moved into Australia and we're wearing patches until the bans came in and they're gangs they're not 1% MC. You live in a dream world all the 1%MC are still there they're just harder to see and the middle Eastern organised crime groups are still there and the drugs are still moving nothing has changed except you can't see them.
1
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 you're the joke apparently they're getting smashed but they're still there and there's no reduction in the drug trade and crime rates you mort
1
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 the only clown is you my family in Australia and friends know just as much as you and the raptor squad is good for showing off in the media. The 1%MC are still there and the drugs are still moving and the middle Eastern crime groups are still active. The drug dealing hasn't reduced and when these groups want to take someone out they do it. The gangs in New Zealand are multi generational from grandfathers , father's,sons, uncles, cousins a raptor squad won't be doing anything in New Zealand. 🤡 like you think I'm a gang supporter because I'm not joining you in being a cheer leader for these laws and tactics that don't get rid of the problem they just make it less visible. The New Zealand government has tried arresting and legislating their way out of the gang issues in New Zealand for decades and it never works because the issues are socio/economic Maori make up 80% if New Zealand's gang members and they are only 16% of the population. The reason is because they have the worst stats for health outcomes, family violence, incarceration rates, educational achievement. Government agencies have warned the government they can't arrest their way out of the problem and in time the government is going to find that out the hard way. I understand this is all probably above your pay grade🤡.
1
@Punkagonist they're not going anywhere because no government in New Zealand has worked out the socio/economic issues that feed it. Maori are 80% of our gang members and are only 16% of the population and the reason is because Maori are at the bottom of the heap in every heath, education and justice stats. Government departments have warned the government they won't be able to arrest their way out of it it's been tried for decades with numerous laws passed and it failed every time.
1
@UPTHEWAHSDAY1 🤡 I don't just have family in Australia I know someone who associates with people in the underworld. The raptor squad has made the 1% clubs less visible but they haven't got rid of them or the middle eastern crime gangs and they never will. The drugs will continue to be sold because there is a demand for them and for every person they arrest someone else will step up to take their place. Governments can form what ever units they want too it never gets rid of the problem America is a perfect example they have tough gang laws, life with no parole, the death penalty,RICO act and they still have gangs ,drugs and crime. The reason is because they have a big demand for drugs and people growing up in unhealthy dysfunctional environments. I understand this is beyond your pay grade
1
@Punkagonist they're not going anywhere because the issues are socio/economic and no New Zealand government has dealt with it they have tried for decades to arrest their way out of the problem and have failed every time
1
@Punkagonist they're not going anywhere because the issues are socio/ economic and no government has found a way to deal with it and these new laws are going to fail just like all the others they've passed
1
@jerrybow8779 When you hear about gangs doing home invasions it involves people in the drug trade they're not just bursting into random people's homes. As for selling drugs no one is forcing people to buy drugs off gang members they choose to
1
@jerrybow8779 you use one example to make your argument which is weak negative interactions between the general public and gangs are rare the gangs predominantly focus on each other
1
20 gang members could walk past you wearing gang insignia and do nothing to you 1 gang member could walk up to you with no insignia and assault you. The government has made gang insignia into something it isn't
1
@LampoonGoon the tattoos aren't illegal
1
@keithmac7596 yeah and it's not going to change anything crime will continue and gang recruitment won't slow down
1
The previous 6 years wasn't open season the commo were busted under the labour government and so we're the mongols.
1
😂😂 the gangs aren't going away and neither is crime the law is a joke government agencies have already warned the government they can't arrest their way out of the problem. Gangs are a socio/economic issue these gang members aren't coming from the best neighbourhoods with a great family life. Unless that can be changed the gangs are here to stay
1
They don't need to snitch these fools came to New Zealand and made videos showing off their wealth they made no effort to hide their criminality..
