You don't know what the casualties are on either side at Bakmut

Russia can't afford to keep taking losses Putin chews up the 300K men he mobilized he will struggle to mobilize more men the Russian public arn't going to continue to tolerate the deaths of their family members. Ukraine still has the ability to resort to an insurgency and make the war a battle of time putting a death of a thousand cuts on Russia while avoiding atrittional battles like in Bakmut. Ultimately if Russia can't break the will of the Ukrainian people to resist they're going to be defeated the war will drag on and the Russian people will say enough just like they did in Afghanistan

@macsenhayes it doesn't matter that the land is flat the Ukrainian have shown themselves very capable at killing Russians and destroying their equipment in all areas of Ukraine. As for scores to settle it's the Russians who have invaded Ukraine and raped, murdered people the Ukrainians hate Russia. The Russian people are so committed thousands of them run for the border rather than fight and we will see how committed the mother's are a few years from now when the coffins are still coming home .

@13gan Ukraine transitions to an insurgency it will be military personnel changing theirs tactics they will start avoiding pitched battles fighting from trenches which hands them to the Russian artillery. They could do hit and run raids in the Donbas but not base themselves there because I agree you would get people informing on them. The Russians fail to break the will of the Ukrainian to resist Russia is going to find itself bogged down the war could last year's with russian soldiers dying everyday with no end and the pressure will mount on the Russian leadership to the point they have to pull out.

@macsenhayes The Ukrainian may lose the Donbas in the end but they can certainly wage an insurgency in the rest of the country including Crimea and do severe damage to Russia. If the Russians are angry and determined the Ukrainian are even angrier it's their country that's been attacked. Logistically an insurgency is easier to sustain than a conventional fight and you can reduce your casualties by avoiding big pitched battles and presenting big targets for the Russian artillery. Putin can't sustain this fight indefinitely this isn't world war two the Russians arn't defending their own ground they have invaded someone else's and it's a totally different situation. The Russian bodies keep piling up at some point the Russian public will say enough they value their family members more than they do Ukraine.

Russia are the facists.

Bullshit. If the Ukrainian people don't want to quit they can resort to an insurgency avoiding battle of attritions like in Bakmut and make the fight last year's and put a death of a thousand cuts on Russia. If Russia can't force the Ukrainian people to submit and the war keeps dragging on the day will come the Russian people will say enough they have already had thousands of men refusing to fight.

@dragon672 it depends on how good the soldiers defensive positions are and how accurate the fire is not just how many shells are being fired

@marcgatto9675 I doubt they have only lost 13k KIA. They need help in supply of weapon systems and supplies of ammunition not manpower.

Yes the Russians will one day have to realise their empire is never coming back and the Ukrainian people will never submit to them
