2:07:20 I learned about taxes, used the same tax system to pay an effective tax rate of ~ 0.35% And I'm low income af. Albeit i won't get some of the tax credits a big business may, i do get some tax credits, deductions and exclusions a business (or anyone in some cases) may get to lower their taxes(in some cases substantially). I feel (perhaps erroneously) from my brief time working as a tax preparer & also talking to many people that most people have very little or no idea how taxes work in their country and also have no idea how to lower their taxes legally. Often I've found people do not try to find out and therefore pay more in taxes than they would if they searched for legal ways to lower their tax liability. 💪

@lightasafeather9750 owe money? And I don't get any ctc because i haven't any dependents. And one must be 25(if i recall correctly) to get EIC. Those credits notwithstanding idk what you mean by "owe money"

@ALCRAN2010 the way it was worded i just didn't understand( that is no fault of your own or mine for that matter just a simple misunderstanding) but with your rewording I understand now. Humble Response to question: The people didn't really seem to recognize a difference in the 1040 format if they were getting their taxes done by someone else. But for people doing their own taxes the new format seemed to complicated things in lieu of simplifying it (opinions may vary on that widely and vehemently as with everything in politics unfortunately). I honestly think it was just a talking point for republican politicians, but I could be wrong about all this. I think (perhaps erroneously) the previous format looked more complicated on the surface but it was actually less complicate/more useful. The alleged simplification in the 1040 format notwithstanding the tax law is just as complicated (if not more complicated, especially since tax law seems to increase in complexity over the decades in the U.S.) as it was before. And as you presumably already know most people got a smaller refund. I think politicians was hoping that their supporters would confuse a substantially simplified format with a substantially simplified tax system which i assume (maybe falsely) that would be difficult to achieve Within a year or two and is unlikely to occur for a variety of factors i will not here endeavor to examine.💪
