They learned better than many what it is like to be invaded, occupied, politically deprived of existence, erased from the maps, massively killed or deported by strangers, forced by strangers to remain poor when they knew how to get rich, to suffer several kinds of foreign cruel dictatorships for more than a generation and still remain Polish. They can understand Ukrainian so well. Plus, russian medias explicitely say they are next if Ukraine falls. The campaign against Ukraine is outright presented as a preliminary step against them! So of course they take it personnally and consider this war is their, too! What would you do, personally, in order to survive ? Don't be amazed: you'd do the same.
