  1. 2:13 Although I can understand the symbolism, I suppose that destroying these documents is a bad idea. These documents can help him prove his identity, prove to foreign governments that he is not undercover and that his identity is not a legend, and prove to the Russians that he is not a fake. It can also help him tell this story to future generations decades from now, so they can understand History better and avoid similar painful drama. He is destroying non-dangerous things and can't be replaced.

  2. 1:01 Those who aren't criminals under French law do not have to negotiate their right to travel to France with the french government. He may have to apply for political asylum or a right to work or study on French territory in order to stay in France for a long period of time or to benefit from special protection, but he does not need it for a visit or for transit. We do not have nationalistic anti-Russian laws and we are not at war with Russia.
