@AstroUranian Cliff Richard was born in India. Is he Indian?

@ there's a bit more to nationality than where you were born. My parents could have been on holiday in Japan when i was born, it really doesn't make me Japanese in any way shape or form!

@AstroUranian described as british by some, not by all. i have a friend born in the uk, livd here all his life but is adamant he is not british, he insists he is irish - because his parents were. u might find that lembit doesn't even consider himself to be british.

The average council estate dweller in somewhere like Wigan isn't going to vote for a Nigerian as PM. I just isn't going to happen. Ever. These middle class, wet tory luvvies just don't understand the country they are living in when they selected her.

@AstroUranian lets just say there is such a thing as a british-japanese person and a japanese-japanese person aka a japanese person..

@AstroUranian He brought up his kids to consider themselves as irish, and encourages his grandkids, whether he succeeded i don't know. I think the original OP's position is that badenoch was entitled (tho that 'right' has now been abolished) due to the strictly legal circumstances of her birth to uk citizenship, but that doesn't make someone british by ancestry or culture or loyalty. whether you regard her as british or not depends whether you are emphasising the legal aspect or the ancestral and cultural aspects of her 'britishness'

@AstroUranian just as british in a legal sense, however i'm assuming opik grew up in the uk rather than nigeria which of course makes a massive difference.
