  4. same in uk , my dad was a copper in the 70s, earned jack shit in those days but cd still afford a nice 3 bed house in british city with three kids and a stay at home wife and a car!

  7. i remember watching a documentary in the 80s about brits who'd gone to aus, one bloke, a binman, had bought a house close to the beach, twice as big as what he could afford in the uk for half the price, remember thinking it sounded like a great way to beat the system and retire early. Guess those days have gone, it's shit in the uk too now.
