I crossed this one off the bucket list back in '95, along with the other classic narrow gauge train your locomotive fireman alluded to (The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad) which you MUST do sometime. It's the real deal! I did the complete trip from Durango to Silverton and return in Mid September, then motored across to Chama N.M. to stay overnight at Foster's Hotel across the road from the Depot and Loco Workshop before riding the train all the way to Antonito, returning to Chama on the railroad's charter coach. It's a full day with a lunch stop at Osier and a meet with the train going the opposite way. Thoroughly recommended! Looking forward to your trip from Williams, AZ. to the Grand Canyon on next week's instalment. Now I have to check out Pannier's coverage of the Triple K trip from Melbourne to Traralgon yesterday (Sept 24th.) Cheers from Michael downunder.😀😀😀
