  1. Shelves downunder in Melbourne are just starting to get back to normal. So far the shortages haven't affected me. Two weeks ago I never thought I'd be so excited to get a fresh supply of dunny (er, toilet) paper even though I hadn't had to resort to using newspaper as a substitute. While the city streets here appear to be deserted (as seen on TV news), the suburbs are reasonably vibrant, although physical distancing rules and avoidance of public gatherings is enforced, with the risk of a $1652 fine per person if the police don't believe you are out for essential shopping, work or exercise. I haven't strayed more than 2km from my house as a pedestrian or driven more than 5km for supplies since 21st March. We might get a relaxation of rules after 10th May if our health authorities deem it safe to do so.
