Carl Sagan once said that being a scientist is not more mentally harder than being a stock trader or accountant or other sort of jobs, but the difference is being able to put aside their agenda of confirming their own beliefs.

Its not because they are dumb, you are actually the dumb one for saying this. There are completely intelligent people who are flat earthers, there are doctors and even scientists. Intelligence is not the problem, is attitude. Its about being counter culture or just wanting to have a different perspective than everyone else. This is why people have a hard time understanding flat earthers, because they are using logic where logic is not the issue.

@druidenomade7362 No you dont. You can be an expert at one field and know nothing about the other, may it be physics, geology, astronomy. For example a biologist doesnt have to reconcile the idea of a flat earth with their studies. If they had to, they could do with very minimal contradiction. You have no idea what you are talking about or know what scientists do or study. Stop talking out of your ass.

@testosteronealphamale7706 Yea, the cause of their belief is not because they are "dumb" the same way Catholics are not "dumb". You seem to have problems comprehending different facets of a human being. Its not as simple as you think it is, it is however, simple for you to say they are dumb. dumb people do this.
