You get your lager louts and people will always hate us for being English as they did when England reached the Euro final so we’ll always be ambushed by some nation or another but largely the large fighting leagues of the 70s and 80s are a thing of the past in top flight English football. I saw this in a video where Real Madrid brought a large gang who were obviously walking through the back streets seeking a confrontation but the only people to oppose them were some women who they abused while standing in their back yards and the English Police had the audacity to reprimand the women. This would never have happened in the 80s as they would be met by a very aggressive mob. So yes it’s dead!

  4. The press often provoke and talk up football violence as can be demonstrated by Murdoch’s newspapers sensationalism of incidents in the 1980s and his subsequent control of football through Sky TV. Eliminating the old families who used to own the clubs!
