  1. Dear Ringway. Great presentation as always. The aerial array reminds me a bit of the "Cobra Mist " over-the-horizon radar constructed at Orford Ness in the late 1960's. An aside. an apcoraphyl story I read once, was that microwave cooking was not discovered by Percy Spencer of Rayethon in 1946. During the early operation of the "Chain Home" radar, the operaters found lots of dead seagulls around the towers. When they picked them up the birds were still warm. They concluded that the gulls had been microwave cooked by the early cavity magnetrons.
