  1. If life is super rare, it will be very difficult to find a habitable planet to colonize, unless of course we had very good terraforming technology. Even if we could find a planet with a breathable atmosphere and water, if there is NO life, that means nothing else but rock. No life would mean no vegetation, no food sources.
