But it's not a democracy, never has been, never has claimed to be. The United States is a REPUBLIC.

@Dannymiles1987 You are free to leave anytime. I hear North Korea is nice this time of year.

Gerrymandering has nothing to do with national elections or the electoral college. It only affects congressional districts within a particular state. Typically the governor of the state redraws districts to favor their own party. It has been happening for over 200 years. Both parties do it. Yeah it's not something many people are a big fan of, but it happens, and over time it all balances out. But everytime one party has more power than another, the party with less power complains about it. That's politics, people.

Nobody "rigged" anything. Gerrymandering has been done in this country for centuries now. It is a legal loophole in the system, and both parties do it whenever they have people in power.
2
Because only the GOP gerrymanders. Too bad it's been done since the days of Elbridge Gerry (1744-1814), for whom it is named. The Republican Party didn't even exist until the 1860's. So, looks like others have done it as well. And yes, every party in power has and will continue to do it, while the party in the minority will complain about it, then do it themselves when they get into power.

Why would gerrymandering matter in a swing state? Gerrymandering doesn't effect national elections. It effects congressional districts. It has absolutely no impact on the Presidential election. Fall asleep that day in American Government class?

Alot of people here have no idea what they are talking about. Gerrymandering does not impact a Presidential election. Only congressional districts and the election of Representatives. For example, say a Republican governor redraws his states districts (which is what Gerrymandering is) in such a way that it favors his party. Let's say the state has 20 Representatives, and under the redrawn districts, it changes from 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans to 9 (D) and 11 (R). The state still has 20 Representatives. Which means the state still has 22 Electors (20 Reps plus 2 Senators), regardless of how the districts are drawn. So if a majority of voters in the state vote Democrat, then the 22 Electors are pledged to that party. If the majority of voters in the state vote Republican, then the 22 Electors are pledged to them instead. What mix among party lines the Representatives are is irrelevant for the Presidential election.
