  1. I wish NYC would break off and become its own state. It is a giant shitstain on the rest of what is an otherwise nice state to live in. They can turn the city into whatever communist Utopia they want and leave us alone. What most non-New Yorkers do know is this state is run almost entirely by Democrats, but what they don't know is that in the entire state there are only about 7 Democrat counties (which includes 4 out of 5 NYC Burroughs). Without NYC, it would be a solid red state here. Pataki, not that he was great but much better than Cuomo or anyone else from the Democrat machine, won the state in the governor race by an ultra slim margin and won 55 counties in the state, out of 62. The population centers of NYC, Rochester, Buffalo, and the one oddball rural Tompkins county where Ithaca college is located are the deep blue pockets in an otherwise deep red state.
