That is surprising considering every point he made is at worst nothing more than simple talking points with no evidence to back them up, and at best Keynesian based pseudo-economics that is such garbage that even my econ profs at community college completely dismissed it. I suppose there are some low quality educators out there that do teach that drivel, but I can tell you that line of thinking would have flunked right out of the Masters program in Applied Economics that I completed. Ever hear of the "broken window fallacy"? That's what that argument is. The argument that illegal aliens being beneficial because they "consume more goods". It's an old, tired argument that has been completely debunked. The benefit from increased production, from an increase in consumed goods, is overshadowed by the cost in lost wages for citizens, as well as the burden on taxpayers for the social welfare programs many of them exploit. Studies like ones sited often just assume they all come here and work. Many do not. Many freeload off our welfare system. I wrote my Master's thesis on economic globalisation, and also touched on the impacts of immigration (both legal and illegal) on economies in the paper. Edgar's "increased consumerism = economic benefit" argument is a complete and total farce. It's about as farcical as the Keynesian belief of "spending your way out of a recession" with quantitative easing.
