I'm breeding the next generation of this line of thinking. My 8 year old son is obsessed with old tech. He wanted my old 1988 dial television for his room. I told him you can't actually pick up any stations on it since the signals went exclusively to digital several years ago. He didn't care he just likes how it looks. He is even fascinated by turning it on to the white noise "snow". If you think about it you don't really see that anymore so it would be interesting to a young person. All us old people remember it from years back, that, and the colored blocks and the hum after stations signed off for the night. And by the way, my wife banned him from turning on the white noise because it freaks her out and reminds her of Poltergeist... another staple of our generation 😂

I had a Motorola Star Tac for years, it was great. State of the art in 2001 baby 😂

I'm late Gen X and still as late as the 1990's if you lived far enough out in the country you couldn't get cable. I had a friend that still had a tv antenna on his house in 1994 and got 3 channels. Yes, you could get one of those monstrosity satellite dishes back then but they were very expensive and were huge and unreliable and went out every time it rained. My parents still had a rotary phone until about 1990, and I was still my dad's "garage door opener" well into the 1990's 😂

If there is another Carrington Event, or worse yet something way larger, which is inevitable at some point, those who can't survive without technology will be doomed.

The massive technological advances every generation wasn't a thing until about 150 years ago. Prior to the industrial revolution, people passed down basic skills and knowledge generation to generation and it stayed valid. This hyper advancement is a relatively new thing in terms of human history.

Or spell, or count change, just to name a couple more things.
