For me, the Keurig is the equivalent of a microwave dinner. Fast and convenient when you just want a single cup of coffee, but the quality of the coffee they produce isn't great, especially for the high cost of both the machine and the k-cups. I have one in my office and it is nice for both myself and customers to grab a quick cup when wanted, but at home I have a drip unit and I prefer it greatly.

As an American drip coffee makers have of course been a staple on my countertop, and I also have a percolator as "backup" for whenever I have to make a whole bunch of coffee and I run both units. For the drip units, I have found there is a significant difference between the cheap ones and the more expensive ones in terms of quality of the coffee they produce. You get what you pay for. The $80 unit I have now makes a thousand times better coffee than the cheap $20 unit I used to have. And I don't like the watered down weak typical American style coffee, I like the dark stuff, and the stronger the better! I am not sure how it works but the unit I have now has a button for "rich" or "classic" coffee and I always go with rich and it tastes great. I will also note that filter quality makes a difference too and avoid the cheap store brand filters if you can.
