the problem is that people are constantly comparing the best of eastern europe with the worst of western europe. "look at how nice warsaw is, and how filthy Berlin is". but no one ever looks at the underdeveloped areas of Poland and compares them to Berlin. no one compares thousands of remote idyllic swedish towns with the underdeveloped semi-soviet backwater areas of Hungary. it always circles back to Capitals, to the big cities, the places where different people collide, because if they did they'd realize that there is a reason why people, from eastern europe to asia, from africa and arabia, keep coming to europe.

yeah, we should be more homogenous, like the ukrainians and Russians.

what the fuck does "fallen" even mean at this point then? Would you describe China as fallen, despite knowing that most of china isn't as nice and tidy as the tourism places? would you describe poland as fallen just because Warsaw the entire eastern half of the country is underdeveloped? stop moving the fucking goalposts. you keep telling me the house is on fire, yet when we try to quantify and find the smoke you just keep saying that the house is warmer than usual.

@mantheman11 no, my point is that, as with most of the east, everyone just looks at the cities where all the wealth and development is funneled and completely ignore the poor rural countrysides where people are at times one step away from being still stuck in something akin to feudalism, particularly in the eastern portions. We all know russia is an impoverished hellhole where the further you go from the the cities the less developed and underpopulated it becomes, but again, everyone just points at how clean and tidy the cities are. no attention to the fact that very little money goes towards bringing up the countryside. yes, its very easy to keep a city clean and tidy when its about as cosmopolitan as an office party.
