@TheLongDon No one saying he has less rights. Just that he has more power, and so the things he do with those rights will have greater impact, especially if used recklessly Both of us are allowed to drive, but we are not allowed to go over the speed limit. Reason you got arrested was because you were speeding through a busy city whilst I was speeding on an empty highway in the middle of nowhere. Who would be a higher priority?

@TheLongDon when you're a massive public figure, you sort of have to. I think Jonestown sort of changed how people view the concept of whether powerful famous public figures are responsible for the things people do under their suggestive psuedo hypnosis.

@merchant_of_kek5697 when did they do that? i only heard they criminalized harassment and discrimination of trans people.

@TheLongDon except our currency is tied to commodities, goods and services. that is what gives it value. Even kingdoms and empires that traded with gold suffered inflation and deflation, and their solutions were far more disastrious than ours, being forced to dilute gold with less valuable metals until even the currency they did have lost its value. so the whole "our paper money has no real value" is bullshit. the fact that we impose value on it means it has value. A Painting is just a piece of paper or cloth with splotches of paint, but its still worth millions because of imposed value.

@TheLongDon the rules still apply, its just that the harmful breaking of rules in one situation is likely to be ignored whilst another isnt. another comparison would be drunk driving. absolutely illegal, but there is a difference between driving your car from the driveway to the garage vs driving your car through the city whilst under the influence. once other people get involved, things once potentially overlooked become significantly more serious.

@TheLongDon except since not everyone is going to be walking around with gold and silver coins you inevitably still wind up with a hypothetical value inflated to keep up with a large population. the issue for rome wasnt "they got too much gold", its that they didnt have enough, which meant they had to dilute the currency with other metals until inevitably they had a currency that was borderline fiat. and you're right, the only thing propping up the Dollar is every country reliant on the dollar... which in my mind seems like a pretty solid base. if the world was to collapse and all economies would go to shit and mad max happens, the men who make their way from the ashes arent going to be the gold barons, but the people who stocked up beforehand.
