@pubcle of course, all systems trend towards authoritarianism. Just trying to argue against this idea that "capitalism gives everyone power" type shit when capitalism 9 times out of 9 just makes a beeline for Feudalism, especially as central regulating governmental bodies are weakened and or corrupted. obviously there is no silver bullet to governance, but thats why there needs to be a mishmash of systems and organizations that keep one another in check.

@dr.vanhellsing some idiots think government controls business in a dystopian society some idiots think business controls government in a dystopian society reality is that businesses become the government in a dystopian society. the perfect libertarian society would become rapidly feudalistic, as was the case in Rapture where the most powerful and wealthy members of society ultimately build pyramids out of society with themselves at the top, and then levied that power to fend off their rivals. Andrew Ryan thought he could maintain that fragile order of "individualism" by building a solid platform that would ensure everyone could pursue their own ambitions. the issue is when a single person's ambitions involves accruing power.

@TLM250 when people criticize capitalism they criticize the staunch capitalism and the staunch capitalists. I've never seen anyone argue that "capitalism is bad, but insert is perfect".

depends on how you define pure evil. A principled and honorable man could still be pure evil, whilst a two faced thief works overtime to feed and protect the poor.

@pubcle Capitalism trends towards authoritarianism in the same way that sex trends towards pregnancy, and the less protections you got in place the more likely it is to occur. You can argue that you can have one without the other, but even a fool knows that statistically it will happen unless there are safeguards.
