The charging infrastructure will be hard to fix because (a) the manufacturers won't really invest in it (b) it seems difficult for a private company to provide chargers and make a profit (c) The government will even worse than the manufacturers because governments are good at building things, but terrible at maintaining them. Add on top of this the expectation that "electric cars have lower costs than gas cars" by owners means they won't be willing to pay $30-40 to charge their car.
