  1. Stephen Colbert is so conflicted.... a (reportedly) staunch Catholic, who got married, at odds with his inner desires that he cannot come out with, because it would destroy him mentally. So he's like a balloon stretched to the breaking point, and that's why he takes it out in ways that seem absurd. The anger towards Trump is about his in ability to indulge his desires.
