  1. I want to disagree with Jimmy a bit. In the aftermath of WW2 a joint defensive pact made sense because of the hegemony of the Soviet Union. But once the Soviet Union dissolved, NATO should have been redefined or ended. When Trump tried to do that, Democrats screeched about how we're destroying NATO, at the same time Germany was investing $billions in two NORD pipelines. Trump was just asking the obvious question. Perhaps the whole point of this war is to justify the US keeping troops in most of Europe?

  2. Rolling through Europe might be easy. Holding it would be much more difficult.

  3.  @blogintonblakley2708  Things are actually much simpler. When eastern Europe fell away from the Russian empire the US and western Europe said there would be no attempt to bring Ukraine into NATO. And Russia is not strong enough economically to be any sort of threat except with the use of nuclear weapons. Why we're making enemies of the Russian people is baffling.
