  1.  @tz8785  Everyone has abandoned cylinder deactivation primarily because it has unintended (and bad) side effects. Honda had it for years with their V6, with mixed results. They finally dumped it about 10 years ago.

  2. The five door Citation actually was a really great idea. But typical for GM of the last 40+ years, the engineering and thoughtfulness of execution just wasn't there. Even today, GM struggles to make reliable push-rod engines primarily because they're doing cylinder deactivation long after everyone else has abandoned it. Their current CEO just doesn't seem very technology savvy.
