@davidparker7920 Well, people in the US are looking for closer to 730km of range. I love France, love the people and the culture, but its a very different country in terms of distances between places. So what works for you will never really be accepted in the US. As for "smelly pumps", perhaps the owners of the petrol stations are not good at cleaning things?

@davidparker7920 "You do however need to stop to use the bathroom, get some food and drink and rest your eyes.." Only as you get older (resting your eyes?). And the only reason you stop for so long in an EV is because you have to not because you want to (and I'm not criticizing people who are old, but we're talking truth here now) Anyway, most people traveling between cities in Europa are taking the train, because it's so heavily subsidized that it's cheaper and faster than driving because of overly taxed fuel. If you're going from Cologne to Paris, you can get there in a couple of hours on the train (about 3.5 hours on Thalys) as opposed to 5.5 hour drives. And once you're in France, you... take the train again. Because it's cheap and convenient. Long drives are the exception, unless you have a diesel where you don't you don't stop so much to rest your eyes .

@seannewman5391 Not so much. EV sales in the US have plateaued in Q1 2024, and Tesla shares have dropped like a rock as a result The other car makers have simply stopped making EVs and have quickly converted the lines to making cars that people want.

Apparently, there is a tiny advantage with nitrogen, but since Nitrogen is one of the most common gasses on earth, it should have been pretty much free.

@paulparoma On a propaganda and cost level, climate change might be the biggest scam in human history.
1
@davidparker7920 lol. You also paid 8,000 Euros more than an equivalent gas/diesel car. And of course they have less range. You may use your car as a commuter 5 km away from work, but consider the radical concept that your use case is not typical.

@bunsw2070 Tire shops will typically just include it at no cost. Certainly at Costco it's just included (and their tires are cheaper, too)
1
@jamesblair9614 Why do you think education standards in the US have dropped like a rock without a parachute?
1
@Timbrock1000 Perhaps an EV option with an electric cord that will avoid the problematic battery issue.
1
@rattusfinkus "all part of the plan" Was terrible range part of the plan? How about unquenchable batteries?
1
@rattusfinkus Well, that would be a dream for EVs, but they're only at 480 km. When they get rid of Lithium batteries, they may be able to achieve that.

@williammeek4078 You're comparing a landmine (gas car) to an atomic bomb (EVs). Yes, landmines go off way more than atomic bombs, but atomic bombs are far more deadly.
1
@williammeek4078 And a regular semi will go twice that long and refuels 100x as quickly.
1
@williammeek4078 up 40% for normal cars. Ford has stopped production of EVs.

@maifantasia3650 "You're a farmer that commutes 180kms 130kms" Now you've put this mental picture in everyone's head of Billy Meeks as the farmer in the TV show "Green Acres"
1
@rattusfinkus well, it was a prototype, and the charge was down to 3%. Anyway, the test was held by the company itself. As you can never trust anything coming from China, we'll wait until it makes it to market to see.
1
@davidparker7920 They've actually plateaued; the people who wanted them bought them in 2023

It was going to happen regardless of which president was in there. While EVs have come an amazingly long way in the past 10 years, they're still 90 years behind where gas/diesel cars are now. It's just sad to see a tiny minority get so vested in the technology that they seem to be driving themselves crazy to "correct" misinformation about their favorite technology. Maybe they don't have children and have nothing else to love?
