@Ifitwerks You're missing the point. The earth doesn't have enough resources to convert to EVs. Even without these high-capacity cables.

5 years from now, we'll find out that all politicians were getting kickbacks from "green energy" companies. In fact there's really no such thing as "green energy", unless you're talking about nuclear.

@jebes909090 Remember that 22 million tons of copper is already earmarked for other uses. So here's your homework assignment: 1) Find out how much copper does an EV require in total pounds 2) Find out how much copper is used a year already 3) Multiply the replacement of all cars in the US (I'll give you a hint, the US has 250M cars) 4) And then get back to us on how many additional tons of copper need to be mined. I've done the calculation, but I want to see if you'll get away from your feelings on this matter and get into data and facts. *here a hint: there are 183 pounds of copper in an EV. vs on average 25 pounds of copper in a normal car.

To be clear, "net zero" doesn't mean we don't emit carbon. What "net zero" mean is that we buy imaginary carbon credits from companies that pretend to set aside land in the amazon that will never be audited. So what it really means is... nothing.
