@AlanWilliams-su4bs Why would the San Francisco car agencies rent cars if there was insufficient chargers to satisfy their customers? Does it seem odd to you that you need to "do [...] research" before renting a car? Where would one check if chargers were oversubscribed? Shouldn't the agency tell you that ?

Then they'd institute mandatory shutdowns of power, and force you to give control of your thermostat to the electric company. And then raise your rates for less service . But hey, you're saving the planet.

Well, not exactly. You can't have nice things unless you're willing to afford the owner of the charging station a margin so he can both make a profit and allow him to cover maintenance costs. Otherwise what you're seeking is government ownership which means everyone will pay taxes for to subsidize you, and you'll still pay the government margins because government is highly inefficient compared to private industry.

@williammeek4078 Bill, not sure where you live, but the body of a car lasts upwards of 25 years. Corrosion is largely a problem of the past.
