Apparently The big takeaway from the chart at https://youtu.be/izCJdwzhGbk?t=210 is that the battery is such a significant weight in the car that the only thing that matters is the number of kilowatt hours of energy the battery can produce. If they would cut the car weight half, they could cut the battery size in half (roughly) and have a much smaller car with the same range as they have today. But the other element is the cost of the battery and motors is so high that that you can't comfortably sell a small EV for less than $35K if you're paying people with a living wage to make it.
